about
i like knowing how the machinery works.
I’m a software architect, technical consultant, and builder who is usually more interested in the system behind the interface than the interface itself.

how i approach the work
I like work that gives me time to understand how a system actually behaves. I’m detail-oriented and persistent, especially when a problem crosses boundaries between code, data, process, and people.
I rarely stop at the interface. I want to understand the choices behind it, where complexity has accumulated, and what would make the whole thing easier to operate and maintain.

staying close to the work.
During more than fifteen years at TIBCO Software and Cloud Software Group, my work ranged from hands-on implementation and architecture to managing long-term customer relationships. Working on both sides taught me how to understand the technical problem and the organizational context around it. I carry both into my independent consulting work.
I provide that work through Page 1 Technology Consulting, LLC. I’m currently based in Colorado, work primarily remotely, and travel when it makes sense for a project. Aveiro, Portugal is on the horizon.
i’m also pretty handy with a drill.
